I received my early training in New Jersey, as an apprentice to a master cabinetmaker, Franco Capozzi, from Florence, Italy. He specialized in antique restorations and handcrafted antique reproductions, using only old world techniques and hand tools. After completing my apprenticeship, I opened a shop, building custom furniture and restoring antiques in New York and New Jersey. My restoration work can be found in the American Wing of the New York Metropolitan Art Museum, the Museum of fine Arts in Newark New Kersey, and the Montclair New Jersey Art Museum.
In 1960, I opened a shop in Denville, near historic Morristown, New Jersey. My wife, Virginia, and I raised our family and operated our business there for eighteen years before being lured to California by the warmer climate. We settled in the Newport Beach area of Orange County, where we opened a shop. After fifteen years in Orange County, we moved to Solvang California where we could enjoy the crafts and traditions of my Danish heritage and the peaceful environment of the Santa Ynez Valley.
After working for many years restoring fine American Antiques, I've come to respect the craftsmanship and integrity of the cabinetmakers of the Colonial and Federal periods. I feel furniture made at that time serves as the finest example of the cabinetmaker's Art. For this reason, I specialize in Colonial, Federal and English Reproductions of furniture, clocks and music boxes. I build limited Editions or one-of-a-kind pieces, using unique designs.
